And The 2018 PANTONE® Color Of The Year Is…Ultra Violet!

It’s official! PANTONE® has announced it’s 2018 Color of the Year. Hello, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet! Even though I love you, PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery, you are SO last year.

On a serious note, here are some interesting facts about the 2018 PANTONE color for 2018 and what this means for our 2018 brides.

What Does Ultra Violet Represent?

First, let’s start with what Ultra Violet actually looks like. Ultra Violet is a deep, blue-based purple—darker than lavender, not as dark as plum, but brighter than eggplant.

According to PANTONE, “Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”

Beyond a Shade of Purple

Purples like Ultra Violet have long been symbols for counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. It has also stood for personal expression and a sense of individuality. “The depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.”

Colors are not just colors and they are beyond trends. Colors give us the ability to relay messages we are trying to convey.
